Playing in Doobie Dan is both challenging and highly rewarding.
I was brought up listening to the fantastic music of The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, they're the kind of tunes that stay with you.
Timeless classics with great chord sequences, infectious grooves and wonderful solos by some of the best musicians in the world.
Playing in Doobie Dan means covering mutiple parts, sometimes on keys, other times on bass or percussion. These tunes have definitely improved me as a musician and it's a dream come true to be able to play them for appreciative audiences.
Vocals are a huge part of the music of Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, and getting the harmonies working well as a band has been a big focus. The quality of arrangement and attention to detail is the key. We've spent numerous hours on every tune, the tunes deserve it, and we definitely think it makes a difference.
It's been a challenge reproducing the music of Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers, but fun all the way. We hope to pass on some of that enjoyment to our audiences as well as authentically doing justice to the music we all love.
